The Crackle & The Static: Part VIII ‘Bat Among The Pigeons’

Cadaver Club Posted on September 17, 2013 by Boom Chic ChicJuly 12, 2016

‘Bat Among The Pigeons’ is a straight up 50’s rock n’ roll song inspired by the likes of Little Richard. The song follows two lovers, who upon their engagement decide to celebrate in style; armed with a pistol and a knife, they go on a killing spree. Obviously. This was one of the most fun songs to record on the album as it is a style I don’t get to play very often. I am a big fan of everything 50’s – the fashion, the diners and of course the rock n’ roll and so I was bound to love … Continue reading →

The Crackle & The Static: Part VII ‘No End To Me’

Cadaver Club Posted on September 16, 2013 by DirgeSeptember 5, 2014

One thing you could not accuse this band of is subtlety. Our songs are pretty direct about it; Draggle is not known for his delicacy behind the kit and Mr. Crowe certainly doesn’t mince words. However, nothing on the album is quite as blunt as No End to Me. Put simply; it’s written from the perspective of a man whose time is running out and rather than willingly accepting this, he’s mad as hell! He snarls, he swears, and in no uncertain terms tells the Grim Reaper to take a hike. Featuring some big chunky chords and no small use … Continue reading →

The Crackle & The Static: Part VI ‘Vampires Ain’t What They Used To Be’

Cadaver Club Posted on September 14, 2013 by DraggleSeptember 5, 2014

Remember when vampires struck fear into the hearts of the villagers? Before Hollywood transformed these horrific creatures into handsome fops with silly hair? Well we do… Hell, we were there. Vampires is a direct response to all these watered down blood suckers. It is also the first song Cadaver Club ever recorded, just under a year ago. We released it just in time for, whatever the latest Twilight movie was, in the hope it would discourage the masses from buying into the recently fabricated myth that vampires sparkle. The song is particularly close to my cold ol’ heart as after … Continue reading →

The Crackle & The Static: Part V ‘Salem’s Lot’

Cadaver Club Posted on September 13, 2013 by DirgeSeptember 5, 2014

Arguably the heaviest song on the album, we weren’t messing about when we wrote this one. In a fitting tribute to horror virtuoso Stephen King, Mr. Crowe came to me with lyrics recounting one of the author’s many classics; Salem’s Lot. The song namedrops many of the characters and is chock full of scenes from the classic movie version as well. At first we toyed with a few notions for the music, but in the end a stripped down, Misfits style punk rock romp, complete with gang vocals and noisy guitars emerged as the obvious winner for a track that … Continue reading →

The Crackle & The Static: Part IV ‘The Warnings’

Cadaver Club Posted on September 12, 2013 by Boom Chic ChicSeptember 5, 2014

So here we are at the final hurdle, the closer for our debut album. We hope you make it in good nick. ‘The Warnings’ is a feel good Ramones-esque song that will have your head bopping from the get go. My favourite thing about ‘The Warnings’ is that it doesn’t conform to the usual verse, chorus, verse, chorus structure. In fact, whenever Mr. Crowe first showed me the song, it didn’t have the chorus we now know and love! Another great part of this song is the outro. The outro you hear on the album is different from the live … Continue reading →
